What Alabama law says
Lease Agreements
Alabama sets no statutory cap on security deposit amounts, but requires the deposit be returned within 60 days of move-out (Ala. Code §35-9A-201) — a landlord who misses the deadline owes double the original amount.
Eviction Notices
Alabama requires a 7-day written notice for non-payment of rent, giving the tenant a chance to pay before the lease can be terminated (Ala. Code §35-9A-421(b)).
LLC Formation
Alabama LLCs don't file a separate annual report, but must file a yearly Business Privilege Tax return (minimum $50 tax, waived if the calculated amount is $100 or less).
Wills & Estates
Alabama requires two witnesses for a valid will and does not recognize an unwitnessed handwritten (holographic) will executed in-state. It is not a community property state — each spouse's assets are separately titled.
Laws change frequently, so always consult a licensed local attorney before executing a legal document.
